Two individuals were arrested on February 26 after Alexander County Sheriff’s deputies and Taylorsville Police executed a search warrant at a home on Willow Court, uncovering 52 pounds of marijuana, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and cash. Dalton Lee Lindsey and Jami Olivia Singleton, both 25, face multiple felony charges, including marijuana trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and child abuse. Both were jailed under a $50,000 secured bond and are set to appear in court on March 3.
This case highlights North Carolina’s ongoing crackdown on illicit cannabis distribution, with law enforcement targeting large-scale marijuana operations as legal markets expand in neighboring states. The presence of a firearm raises concerns about the risks associated with the underground cannabis trade, while advocates argue that regulated access to medical cannabis could curb black-market activity. As North Carolina debates its marijuana laws, arrests like this continue to fuel discussions on cannabis legalization and law enforcement priorities.
